Van Zoetendaal Publishers
Van Zoetendaal Publishers is an Amsterdam photobook imprint run by the graphic designer Willem van Zoetendaal, who has made photography books since the early nineties and began publishing his own in 1994, first as Basalt with Frido Troost. He designs every book himself, treating the photobook as an art form in its own right and the montage of the pictures as a rhythmic melody, printed so that photography becomes a new form of vintage. The list follows Dutch photographers, among them Koos Breukel, Harold Strak, Otto Snoek, Ruth van Beek and Thomas Manneke, and the archive of the filmmaker and photographer Johan van der Keuken, whose estate Van Zoetendaal manages with Noshka van der Lely, supplies several titles. The house also makes special-edition prints.
