Damiani

Bologna, Italy · since 2004

Damiani was founded in Bologna in May 2004 by Andrea Albertini, as an independent publishing house born within Grafiche Damiani, a lithography studio that goes back to the 1950s, and it builds on that printing expertise in art and photography books. Since 2019 it has been run by Silvia Pesci. Its list covers photography, architecture, design, reportage, pop culture, fashion, collecting and sport, and the company says its books are conceived, produced and printed in Italy. It has worked with institutions such as The Broad in Los Angeles, the Cineteca di Bologna, Fotografiska in Stockholm and the International Center of Photography in New York.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
