SPBH

London, United Kingdom · since 2011

SPBH Editions was founded in 2011 under the Self Publish, Be Happy umbrella and is now an imprint of MACK, focused on photography, critical theory and experimental publishing, and described by MACK as experimental art books, critical essays and literature. Its series SPBH Essays aims to inject provocative new ideas into the contemporary cultural debate, with visual and textual essays that mix academic and lyrical registers, and a sub-series, Body/Politics, appears in MACK's navigation. Its titles include books on abortion workers, an American curator's drawer of photographs and an essay on whiteness.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
