André frère

Marseille, France · since 2013

André Frère Éditions is a French independent art, architecture and photography publisher, founded in Marseille in 2013 by a publisher who had been a partner at Images en Manœuvres Éditions and who won the Nadar prize in 2011 with Jean-Christian Bourcart for Camden. It publishes monographs by established and emerging photographers and books on architecture, city and landscape, among them a book on Marseille seen from its cranes, and it prints some special editions locally, one at La Friche la Belle de Mai. It is distributed in France and in French-speaking countries by Pollen and Cedif and internationally by Idea Books in Amsterdam.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
