Cesura

Italy · since 2008

CESURA describes itself as a photo collective, publishing house and lab, founded in Italy in 2008 and active around the hills of Piacenza. Its imprint, Cesura Publish, prints books in limited runs and, for now, publishes only the work of the collective's photographers, with open calls for outside projects planned for the future. The Andy Rocchelli Grant, named for the photojournalist killed in Ukraine in 2014, gives its winner the production and publication of a book by Cesura Publish. The lab runs workshops that are usually open to everyone, even those with no experience in photography.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
