Japan

LibroArte is a Japanese publisher whose catalogue centres on photography, with art, design and architecture titles alongside it, and by its own company profile it has three businesses: book publishing, an editorial production service, and the planning and management of exhibitions for Japanese museums in painting, photography, design and architecture. Its photobook programme began in earnest when it announced, with the first title of a new series, that it intended to publish four photobooks a year. Its business partners include the V&A Museum, agnès b. and BEAMS, with Tsutaya bookstores among its retailers. The site is in Japanese and English.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
