Trans Photographic

Pomponne, France

Trans Photographic Press is a French publisher of photography books based in Pomponne, in Seine-et-Marne, created by Dominique Gaessler, with Vinca Dupuy-Basak joining later. It states three aims: to show contemporary photographers, to publish unseen work by established ones, and to give photography classics a new editorial life. Its books are mostly monographs, sold through its own catalogue and often launched by pre-order and subscription, and the subjects run from rural landscapes and family houses to Roman streets and West African masks and puppets. Photography is the only subject: the site calls the house a publisher of photography books, and nothing else.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
