Preface by Noël Mamère

Less an inventory of the landscape and people of a town than the result of a slow stroll in search of its diversity: diversity of the urban and natural settings that make it singular, diversity of those who live and work there. The project generates the image of a quiet place that lives with its history between the Garonne and the railway, and that lays the foundations of its future within an urban renewal operation. Portraits and landscapes alternate to give a fair and relevant view of a suburban town, bordering the centre of Bordeaux, but which also lives as a series of villages.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
