This work of multivalent narratives began with a simple premise: collecting sheets of paper torn from books, each carrying several pictures and an inlaid narrative. Across a decade spent pulling images apart from one another, excising them from the page and recontextualising them as new sets, Carmen Winant gathered disparate sheets skimmed off the top of her other collections. The result ranges widely in subject — rabbinical study, dog training, surgical birth, methods of tantric sex, patterns of the sunset — while remaining precise in method.
