Published on the occasion of the exhibition at the Casale di Santa Maria Nova on the Appia Antica (29 September 2019 – 12 January 2020), the volume gathers the homage that the great Italian reporter wanted to pay to the capital: an extraordinary, absorbing journey to the roots of contemporary Rome. From the second half of the 1950s to today Gianni Berengo Gardin has portrayed the whole of Roman society, from the underclass to the salons, with the attention to people and to daily life that has always marked his work.
