At the root of the book lie 36 original artworks by Wysocka and Pogo, each composed of two separate Risograph prints of pot plants made on canvas, cut apart and stitched together by hand. The source material for the prints is a modest 1977 booklet, "Topfpflanzen 1", published by ZBE – Berlin Flowers. The book is accompanied by a text on organisms as readers of one another: every living thing is a reader and a sentence at once, rewriting itself in reaction to heat, pressure and proximity, so that coexistence becomes translation, sometimes successful and sometimes toxic.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
