Touching the woods, touching the heart: a fresh document that looks at the relationship between people and the woods from the world of medicine. A psychiatric hospital in Hokkaido has adopted a woodland therapy that makes use of the surrounding trees; the bright woods, with a sense of people in them, are full of warmth and the beauty of the four seasons. By walking freely along the paths, patients regain the strength to live in society. While recording the hospital's work, Seido Kino photographs events in the woods one can touch, a zone of contact between humans and nature and of coexistence between the people concerned and healthy people: a valuable documentary on spaces of being and encounter, seen from the field of medicine and welfare. The binding conveys the same world: leaves gathered in woods in Hokkaido and Kyoto are pasted in and wrapped in soft cloth, and under the cloth of each cover lies a differently shaped fallen leaf.
