Shortlisted, Dummy Award 2026

Photobook dummy by Gabriel E. Corredor Aristizábal (Colombia), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The book examines how intergenerational trauma and collective memories of political violence in Colombia shape the author's thought, memory and perception. Intrusive thoughts, the obsession with recollection and questions about the fragmentation of memory are central concerns. The design mirrors these concerns through patterns of repetition, overlap and fragmentation, in which images of past and present converge across pages without margins or white space. The black cover is printed with red pixelated, striped forms along the top and silhouettes of figures along the bottom, with the author's name and the title in small red type. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
