Shortlisted, Dummy Award 2026

Photobook dummy by Antigoni Papantoni (Greece), shortlisted for the Dummy Award 2026. The book deals with the lasting impact of violence and with the denial, minimisation and silencing that so often surround it. Drawing on a fifteen-year archive of image-making, it combines photographs with personal texts to examine how reclaiming memory can challenge erasure and rebuild a sense of agency. The cover is a photograph of a dusk sky of orange and grey clouds, with the title in pale, broken lettering. The Dummy Award, organised by the PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne, shortlisted 48 unpublished dummies from about 325 entries from more than 45 countries; the shortlist travels on a world tour of photography events and venues.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
