Analogie e memoria is the so-called "drawer work" of Mario Cresci. In Matera, between the end of the nineteen-seventies and the beginning of the eighties, he had put together a range of iconographic material — drawings, marks, notes, writings of various kinds, his own frames and those of other authors, collages, posters, clay tablets — all at an embryonic stage. He then photocopied the lot and worked on it, transforming form and content, drawing on top, writing, painting, so that the intervention on the photocopies became an original in its own right, the work itself.
