Her first book, made entirely of frames taken from her filmed work, in black and white and in colour. It takes the reader into a construction site on the edge of Casablanca — the Beast of the title — and into her family's small parcel of land beside it, holding a national building project and a domestic story in the same frame. In her words, the image, like reality, has to stay an enigma, and not a harmless one.
