The method and genesis of Pierre Molinier's oeuvre, with more than 800 pictures, mostly unpublished, together with numerous documents, manuscripts and letters, a complete chronology, a critical biography and a text by Jean-Luc Mercié. Born in 1900 in Agen, Molinier was a Surrealist painter and photographer, a precursor of body art, who died in 1976 after thinking out a radical and pornographic body of work. The monograph covers painting, photography, collage, photomontage, performance and sexuality in avant-garde contexts, and follows the self-staged transformations through which the artist remade his own body.
