Photographs made by Igor Mukhin between 1985 and 2010 in his native Moscow, in which one of the most significant contemporary Russian photographers examines the reality of the post-Soviet space in his own city. Showing the private and public life of several generations of Muscovites, the pictures span twenty-five years of dramatic change, hope and disappointment. The book was compiled by the photography director and gallerist Irina Meglinskaya, with a preface by the writer Zakhar Prilepin; Mukhin's work has been published widely at home and abroad, exhibited in museums and galleries around the world and is held in private and museum collections in Russia, the United States and France.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
