In the absence of people the interiors that Candida Hoefer photographs in her characteristically austere style unfold a palpable presence of their own. Concentrating on the aesthetic of abstract structures and relying solely on the available light, she captures the atmosphere of a place. The pictures of this series, taken in the autumn and winter of 2021, show the architecture of the Kunstmuseum of the principality, its libraries and its storage rooms, in interior and exterior views: places of silence and of preservation.
