What happens when the water disappears? New heat and drought records are broken almost every year, and in Spain they lead to deep water problems: failed harvests, empty reservoirs, shrinking lagoons, an ecological and social collapse in the making. The crisis is not only a consequence of a changing climate but is tied to irrigation and farming policy in regions such as Andalusia. The country is called the vegetable garden of Europe, and much of the fruit and vegetables we eat come from areas where scarcity has long become structural, so that our own consumption is part of a system that exhausts natural resources. With pictures, texts and notes from a travel diary the artist builds a many-layered account of it.
