The artist's first monographic publication, made for her first solo museum show. Through photographs, drawings, texts and video and sound works she takes on questions of identity, origin, transgenerational trauma and self-empowerment. At the centre stands the self-portrait as an artistic strategy, a way of making social role models and family imprints visible and of questioning them; the volume gathers the central groups of work and, with the accompanying essays and a conversation, opens a many-layered view of it.
