Brings together, for the first time, the complete run of Daido Moriyama's serialized photo-essays published in the underground magazine Shashin Jidai between 1981 and 1988. Beginning with Hikari to Kage (Light and Shadow), the work marks the photographer's return after a long creative slump and a period in which he evolved a new grainy, restless aesthetic that still informs his work. Each chapter is reproduced with a portfolio and his own writings; more than eighty percent of the original negatives have been lost.
