Thomas Duffield reconnects with his estranged father after years apart, following the nine-year process of rebuilding a relationship strained by heroin addiction. The project examines the effect of addiction on family dynamics, recognising the overlooked role of his mother as single parent. Text messages exchanged between father and son carry both humour and pathos alongside the alternating portraiture and still-life photographs. Selected in New Statesman Best Photo Books 2025.
