When we look at other people's photo albums, we follow the rhythm of memory: fragmentary, repetitive, shaped by associations and empty spaces, with unknown people and places that often feel familiar. The catalogue of the exhibition of the same name sets historical photo albums from the Draiflessen Collection archive in dialogue with works by contemporary artists, among them Tina Barney, Dayanita Singh, Fiona Tan and Gillian Wearing. The artworks reveal the creative nature of the actions inherent in the albums, driven by the desire to remember, to tell stories, but also to forget.
