For eight years the German photographer Christoph Borek travelled in search of in-person encounters and photographed more than a thousand volunteers, each asked to express before the camera three core human emotions: joy, anger and pain. Instead of the self-staging and idealisation that have become the norm, the focus is on vulnerability and authenticity. The book gathers over three thousand of these portraits together with the artist's reflections on the project, a volume dedicated to togetherness rather than division.
