A volume of previously unpublished early work by the American artist Laurie Simmons: black-and-white photographs of fifties-style interiors furnished in true detail with dolls and doll's furniture, miniature objects, postcards, books, pamphlets and magazines. Made between 1976 and 1978, the pictures place Simmons alongside contemporaries such as Cindy Sherman as a pioneer of the expressive possibilities of photography, staging domestic scenes with small figures.
