Yaga calls up the archetype of a contemporary witch, but above all it is an idea of emancipation. This first publication by the Polish photographer is a volume about freedom — about heteronormative standards, about age shaming and about taking apart the male-female myths that shape society. It is also a work about the relation between beauty and an imposed feminine identity, and about the liberating force of consciously choosing to be excluded, of living outside the bounds of the norm and of a settled cultural context.
