Winner of the Carte Blanche PMU in 2013, the Canadian photographer Kourtney Roy plays, experiments and amuses herself: those words seem to guide her personal research. Exhibited all over the world, her self-portraits are films in a single frame — she began making them at university, she recalls, out of a certain shyness and a reluctance to direct other people during a shoot, and she has gone on staging herself, always in character, in the roadside settings and hard light of her own invented fictions.
