Pellion di Persano (1947-2017) began in Turin in the seventies, when the city was an active cultural laboratory where many artists lived and worked, among them leading figures of Arte Povera. His closeness to them allowed him to portray them on many occasions, to record works while they were being made, and to take part in projects in which the recorded image became a language of its own.

Called in 1984 to document Ouverture, the opening show of the Castello di Rivoli, he began a long collaboration with that museum.
