The work originates in a recurring personal experience: the artist is frequently mistaken for other bald men with beards. From this seemingly ordinary confusion emerges a broader reflection on how identity is perceived and simplified within contemporary visual culture. The project consists of a series of synthetic portraits created in his image and likeness: these figures resemble him, yet none of them is him. Positioned between similarity and difference, the portraits examine the body as data — categorised, segmented and interpreted through systems shaped by algorithms, platforms and standardised visual codes.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
