Five years on from his first book, we re-immerse ourselves in Tokyo life through Motohiko Hasui's eyes. With a dappling of humour and playfulness, a resounding sense of peace and the search for tranquility seem to be the resolve of this second volume.

Published in an edition of a thousand copies, it is presented as a flexi-cover diary, complete with belly band, page marker and elastic strap. The work was shown at the Quiet Noise gallery in Setagaya, Tokyo, in November 2018.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
