For around ten years, photographer and researcher Caroline Cieslik has documented the evolution of Prairies Saint-Martin, an urban wasteland located in the heart of the city of Rennes and now developed into an “urban natural park”. The study of the future of these few hectares of land intersects with various environmental and social, political and poetic issues, all of which can be placed in the long term of relationships between humans, non-humans, nature and the earth. Several hundred photographs are therefore accompanied here by a careful theoretical and historical elaboration: an archeology of wastelands allows us to think about the conditions of contemporary pastoral care.
