Introduction by Francine Prose

Jeremiah Dine’s Anne-Marie is a visual document of Dine’s relationship with his wife over 40 years. It explores their shared passion for one another, for the world around them, and their distinct visions as fellow artists. What happens to two people who shape their life together over the course of four decades? How does one’s view of a loved one change and deepen over so long a time? Created using a combination of 35mm and 120mm film, black-and-white and color, digital, Polaroid, iPhone, disposable camera, manipulated and traditional techniques, this book is a kaleidoscopic statement on how photographing someone is a means to understand yourself. It is both a portrait and a self-portrait of the duality of a long-term relationship.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
