Conceived as an extended reflection on a practice developed over more than two decades, the book aims to restore the complexity of a corpus of works that crosses photography, collage, found images, drawing and video, tracing its evolution from its first formulations to the present. For Spranzi, photography and video are, first of all, ways of seeing and reimagining the world. Rather than favoring technique, his attention focuses on the elementary gestures of the photographic act - looking, enlarging, reducing, reproducing, reassembling - understood as actions through which the image is continuously analysed, moved and rewritten. These processes generate sets of works in which fragments, objects and memories are staged, and in which the familiar is subtly destabilized by slippages and suspensions of meaning. Developed in close dialogue with the artist and the graphic designer Filippo Nostri, the editorial project is divided along both chronological and thematic paths. The volume exposes the evolution of Spranzi's practice by foregrounding a series of recurring motifs that constantly cross and structure his research, such as the tension between scale and intimacy, the circulation and transformation of images and the oscillation between reality and wonder. The publication features original contributions by Cecilia Canziani, Ilaria Gianni, Estelle Hoy, Quinn Latimer and Simone Menegoi, whose essays offer historically grounded readings, critical perspectives and poetic deviations that complement and resonate with Spranzi's work.
