In “Quando eu vi” landscape photography is approached, photographing the Brazilian forest, starting from the concept of its contemplation by contemporaries. This project started in 2004 and proposes a revision of the concept of the natural landscape, or limit of the natural. Brazil is one of the last countries where it is possible to experience the presence of unspoiled nature, being on the threshold of its transformation. This work is a reflection on that moment in which photography is made up of hybrid landscapes and the viewer participates in the very constitution of the image. Claudia Jaguaribe is from Rio de Janeiro, she lives and works between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. She graduated in art history, fine arts and photography from Boston University, USA.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
