In the summer of 2009, Tod Papageorge and Marco Delogu met at the American Academy in Rome and decided to work on the Rome Commission, a photographic project conceived and curated by Delogu from 2003 that involved major international photographers. The volume is the outcome of the Roman flanerie accomplished by Papageorge; Pigneto, Mandrione, Ostia, Garbatella, Prati, parks, the station, suburban avenues, the center: “few details, a lot of gestures even if never spectacular, places that are also not very Roman and a city that is often not immediately recognizable.”.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
