Between 1918 and 1924, over four journeys to Tierra del Fuego, the German missionary Martin Gusinde conducted the only in-depth study of the Selk’nam, Yamana and Kawésqar, immersing himself in these societies to the point of speaking their language and joining the Hain initiation rite. Around 250 photographs selected from the 1,200 archived at the Anthropos Institute make up this first book on his images of vanished peoples.
