A photographic journey exploring the link between great love stories and the architecture that housed them. The title is an Italian idiom for the harmony between two people who love each other inside a shared space, whatever it may be. Daniele Ratti starts from the history of architecture, where the hut is the symbol of the primitive dwelling, a primordial refuge and the archetype of the first house, and from the two matrices of family intimacy and architectural design. The itinerary, begun in 2020 and concluded in 2024, visits fifteen houses that are extraordinary for their design and for the couples who made them their home and built a memory there.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
