Lírica urbana is a journey through the work of one of the most famous American women photographers, Helen Levitt (New York, 1913-2009). She became famous for her street photographs portraying everyday life in New York, the intimate side of that great city. The book shows a black-and-white Manhattan and, in addition, another facet of the artist, her colour slides from the last stage of her career. Finally, it also gathers the impressions of a trip to Mexico in 1941, an almost unknown documentary series. It is conceived as a rereading of her crucial work A Way of Seeing, from the perspectives of the texts of Alan Trachtenberg, Jean-François Chevrier and Jorge Ribalta. Helen Levitt lived concerned with human interaction and pursued for decades the enigmas enclosed in the urban.
