Humour plus metaphor equals greguería. This is the definition that Ramón Gómez de la Serna himself gave to the new genre he invented, based on short phrases that define everyday reality from a symbolic and playful gaze. Greguerías are pills of poetry, images that transform reality and make us see it from a new perspective. For their part, the images of Chema Madoz, one of the most important photographers of our time, engage in perfect harmony with the greguerías: photographs where nothing is what it seems and apparent reality is replaced by another far more imaginative and closer one. In 1970 the American University of Pittsburgh acquired from Luisa Sofovich, widow of Gómez de la Serna, the last books and manuscripts on which the writer was working at the time of his death in 1963. The researcher Laurie-Anne Laget combed the archive to compile the 400 unpublished greguerías presented in this edition. Third edition.
