Michio Yamauchi's street photography from visits to Hong Kong between 1995 and 1997, capturing a significant period of the city's history. Through wandering and encounters, the photographs reveal the coming changes: the end of an era of 156 years of colonial administration and the internationalisation and modernisation of the early 1990s that led to the handover to China. The scenes form a photographic narrative both familiar and unfamiliar, echoing through the individuals who inhabit the spaces of the city and guiding the viewer as spectator and voyeur through a period of its history.
