A collection of Miyako Ishiuchi's earliest photographs, which she discovered by chance while preparing a solo exhibition at the Yokohama Museum of Art. They were made within her daily life and developed in a makeshift darkroom in her parents' house. In her afterword, in Japanese and English, she writes that the black-and-white pictures provoke no nostalgia or sentimental memories and appear instead as mysterious proof of the depth of the decades between that time and her life today, and that although she still finds them imperfect she recognises that she already had the vision that led her to create Yokosuka Story, Apartment and Endless Nights.
