Contemporary Global Prospects
Introductory essay by Nadine Olonetzky

For more than twenty years, this photographer has been working on a series creating staged tableaux in the manner of nineteenth-century painters, investigating the interaction between inhabitants and their surrounding environments in countries as diverse as Spain, Uganda, Indonesia, and Japan. His large-scale images examine communal spaces, the outskirts of metropolises, waste disposal sites, and land marked by agriculture and mining, revealing that these locations are products of human visions and ideals, yet also places of environmental exploitation.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
