Desandar is an operation against forgetting. A book that does not reconstruct: it unearths. Eunice Adorno — photographer and archivist — traces a reverse journey through the material, spectral, and poetic traces of the women who fought on the margins of the Mexican Liberal Party in the early 20th century. Andrea Villarreal, Margarita Ortega, Elisa Acuña... names that history carefully erased, and which here return to take center stage. The volume includes two texts that act as incantations: an essay by Ainhoa Suárez Gómez, a critical drift that breaks the patriarchal linearity of history, and an essay by Vivian Abenshushan, a choral irruption in which the silenced return to speak, without asking permission.

ABOUT

SpineIndex is an archive of independent books on photography and visual culture: photobooks, publications, design books and self-published editions — the kind of work that rarely makes it into bookshop windows or mainstream catalogues. It exists to document, connect, and keep visible a world of publishers, artists, and makers who operate outside conventional distribution. A living reference for anyone who takes this territory seriously — collectors, researchers, students, and the simply curious.
