Red Clay, the inaugural issue of RADAR, focuses on the American South, one of America’s most unique and complicated regions. Each collection in the series brings together photographers whose individual photobooks combined take the reader on an exploration of a place, region or territory. The five books by Nydia Blas, Tim Davis, Maury Gortemiller, Laura Noel and Anderson Scott are joined by a chapbook of poetry by the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Forrest Gander. Maury Gortemiller served as lead curator, to ensure both the range of vision about the South and a synergy between the artists and projects.
